Why Do I Need A Drinking Water Filter System

By: Karen Graham VTCT GCP

Can a drinking water filter system really give us the benefits the advertisers and manufacturers claim?

Water filter systems have become more important to our health because of the increased level of pollution that is being dumped into all our waterways.

Location, age, and the constant dumping of pollution in our water is taking a toll on the American water treatment plants today.

How do we get clean healthy water? What is the surest Way? Start using a drinking water filter system.. However, before purchasing one make sure that you have seen results that the product has undergone and also a certified guarantee. Any reputable dealer will only be too pleased to show them.

What if I told you that even if the treatment plant filtered every single chemical out of the water that before it reached your home it could become infected with more carcinogens. Surprised! Well this is the truth. The newly filtered chlorinated water can become infected from by-products such as twigs or branches.

The American Journal of Publich Health ran a headline story - Researchers from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee found a correlation that those who drink tap water with high levels of chlorine by-products regularly are at a much higher risk of developing bladder or rectal cancers.

What about lead from old pipes. Another danger lurking in our water. The water travels up the pipe, it is infected, it reaches the point of entry unfiltered it could be dangerous espeically to children.

Lead is particularly dangerous in children as shown by studies that have taken place in Colorado. Lead exposure at a young age can cause permanent learning difficulties and hyperactive behaviour. Low-level lead exposure is also associated with elevated blood pressure, chronic anemia, and peripheral nerve damage.

None of us would like to see our families suffer with such a life threatening disease would we. Then the ownous is on us to prevent the possibility of such suffering.

What if I told you that a staggering 75% of Americans do not receive safe water that they can use for cooking, bathing and drinking. This information came from the Natural Resource Defence Council.

Some more staggering figures from U.S. Health Officials show somewhere in the region of 900,000 people are getting sick, of which approximately 900 are dying from water borne diseases yearly.

Do we really want to (although unintentionally) be guilty of causing misery and heartache to our families. No of course we don't and there is really only one avenue left open to us to protect them.

Isnt it eye opening to find out that even if our treatment plants took away every chemical, pollutant or harmful parasite, and once the water left them it was 100% pure that before it reaches us it can still become infected with other by-products that can be life threatening if we take them into our bodies.

Nobody else is going to come along and make sure that your water is 100% pure and safe. Nobody is going to come along and nurse your children if they get sick. We've had the message, we know the consequences.
