Signs of Hemorrhoids You Should Look Out For

By:

Here are some signs and symptoms of hemorrhoids to look out for:

1. Bleeding is the number one sign that you have hemorrhoids condition. Bleeding usually occurs during bowel movement where one notices blood in the stool. In some cases, bleeding can also happen after intense pressure is exerted in the anus. Although there are cases where the anus bleeds for some other disease or condition, in almost all cases, it is usually due to hemorrhoids. When bleeding occurs, it is advisable that you consult a doctor immediately to remedy the condition while it is still in its early stage.

A bleeding anus can become very uncomfortable and embarrassing. Since bleeding happens when the anus or the lower body exerts pressure, bleeding may happen anywhere such as when one is in a public place. Needless to say, nobody wants to have their clothes stained with blood from the anus.

2. One other sign of hemorrhoids is a change in the size, shape and color of the stool. Because hemorrhoids cause blockage in the stool's passageway, the stools usually come out thin and narrow in size and shape as well as dark in color.

3. Pain in the rectal area is also one sign of hemorrhoids that should not be ignored. If you experience and discomfort or pain in the rectum which is not caused by any other ailments or known injury, it is possible that you may be suffering from external hemorrhoids. Compared to internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids are bound to cause more discomfort as it is more exposed to outside irritants.

4. Any unusual types of discharges from the anus also indicates presence of hemorrhoids. Discharges might be brought by irritation or swelling inside the anus. This is usually symptoms of internal hemorrhoids.

5. Mysterious lumps, bulges, swellings or sore spots in the anal canal or rectum are something that should also be looked into because this can also be another sign of hemorrhoids. Any sac-like protrusion in the anus can be a cause of swelling due to too much pressure in the blood vessels at the hemorrhoids. Lumps brought by hemorrhoids vary in sizes - there are small-medium sizes of lumps, while there are other protrusions that are large enough that it tangles. Unusual bulging tissue from the anus that does not disappear or return to its normal size can be a signal that it is something as serious as hemorrhoids. To sum it all up, there are four different degrees (or grades) of hemorrhoids. Symptoms and treatments will depend on the kind of grade where the hemorrhoids belong:

- First Grade Hemorrhoids: The first grade hemorrhoids may be internal or external. The first grade of hemorrhoids is often accompanied with bleeding.

- Second Grade Hemorrhoids: These are hemorrhoids that just draw back in through its own towards the anal canal. Bleeding is sometimes not present in Second Grade Hemorrhoids.

- Third Grade Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids protrude from the anus' opening but can be easily pushed back in.

- Fourth Grade Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids that protrude out of the anus but cannot be pushed back in manually.
