Education services placed second as far as being the biggest employer in New Mexico. Construction has a great future in New Mexico since New Mexico is constantly growing. Much of New Mexico's wealth comes from minerals and will continue to be the case years into the future. Large deposits of salt, potash, manganese, copper ore, and natural gas are good news for the economy. New Mexico remains the largest producer of uranium ore.

New Mexico also plays a role in the modern high tech economy. Los Alamos, New Mexico brings in a great deal of high tech jobs. Besides Los Alamos, most high tech careers are military defense related. In addition, Alburquerque has become the new home of many manufacturing jobs.

New Mexico is not a tourism magnet, but it does hold its own. The largest attraction remains the Carlsbad Caverns National Park but other sites such as the Aztec Ruins National Monument are popular with visitors as well.

If New Mexico is a possibility for a new place to live then you can rest easy knowing the economy of New Mexico is just fine. The goverment provides a great number of jobs and the manufacturing sector is strong. The economy is gaining strength. Plus, the scenery is spectacular, not to mention a wonderful climate. These factors make New Mexico a new home to many.
