I Do My Writing in the Wal-Mart Parking Lot

By: George Wallace

I do my writing in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

My wife likes to shop, I’d really - - -rather not.

She’ll stay inside ‘til she’s ready to drop.

I sit in the car, watchin’ the folks come ‘n go, the flow never stops.

1. Now, it’s Christmas Time. The lonely part of the year. Well it starts earlier every autumn.

Your guard drops just ever so little, it’s the holly and the tinkle,

Soon I expect, Christmas Sales will begin on the Fifth- - -of July!

The vast expanse of hot blacktop, playground of birds, holds a new kind of cat.

Who wants to play a modern board game with your fuzzy, warm cash.

Chorus:

I do my writing in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

My wife likes to shop, I’d really - - -rather not.

She’ll stay inside ‘til she’s ready to drop.

I sit in the car, watchin’ the folks come ‘n go, the flow never stops.

2. Its Christmas Time again. The lonely part of the year.

Your guard drops just ever so little, it’s the music and twinkle,

For that the marketing cat waits,

He inserts a little, curved claw,

Like a #7 snelled fishhook, and quick !, snags a big wad of green,

Right out of your pocket.

Chorus:

I do my writing in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

My wife likes to shop, I’d really rather not.

She’ll stay inside ‘til she’s ready to drop.

I sit in the car, watchin’ the folks come ‘n go, the flow never stops.
