How You Can Find Great Cruise Deals

By: Frank J. Snyder

Many people who have had the chance to enjoy a vacation aboard a cruise ship often have had such a good time that they simply love to take another, similar vacation. Even those who haven't been on a cruise before dream of being able to sail on a cruise ship and enjoy all the fun and excitement that such a holiday can bring. Usually it comes down to finances and people need to locate great deals on cruise tickets before they can make their holiday dream come true.

In this report we will offer some tips and advice on how you can locate great deals on cruise ship vacations, so you'll be able to enjoy great holiday fun at great prices too.

The travel and cruising business is no different from any other business: prices are a matter of supply versus demand. If the cruise line companies have plenty of customers wanting to take a vacation on their ships, prices will tend to climb. On the other hand, if there are lots of spaces available for the number of customers, some great deals may start to materialize. The key is to be ready to take action when the cruise deals become available.

Whenever one of the cruise companies has built a new ship and has launched it on its first voyage, there is a good opportunity to find some great cruise deals. The addition of a new vessel increases the total number of cabins available, and the owners will be eager to fill them with as many paying customers as possible. Therefore, they will often offer some great cruise deals to get more passengers aboard. In response to this, competing cruise lines will often reduce their rates as well, in order not to lose too many customers to the competition.

You can enjoy the best deals on cruises if you are willing to be as flexible as possible when it comes to the type of cabin accomodations as well as the category of cruise ship that you will consider for your vacation. You should also try to book your cruise at least 90 days before the date of sailing.

If you want to get the best cruise travel deals, it is advisable to make your reservations five to six months ahead because the rates are usually lower when the cruise ship hasn't filled up yet. However, if you can be really flexible about your departure date, then you may also be able to find really good deals on last minute travel.

When you are considering the available deals, be sure to remember that the rates for cruises include all your meals aboard ship, your on ship entertainment, and most of the on board activities such as movies, live shows, gym usage, games and sports, and dance classes. Some people are quite content with all of the food, fun and activities that are included in the all inclusive price of a cruise.

If you discovered great cruise deals and finally got a break on your ticket price, then great for you and happy sailing. However, you will have some additional expenses that you should keep in mind. It is customary, and expected, for you to tip the service staff. Expect to pay approximately $10 per day to cover this expense. Bottled water, sodas, and alcoholic beverages are not included in your cruise fare, so you need to budget for them as well. In addition to that, the shore excursions, special spa services and extra classes, such as yoga or pilates, need to be paid for separately.
