The city of Boston in Massachusetts has a special place in American history. It is waiting to be explored by you and your family on your next family vacation. It is a favored destination for those wishing to visit a place of fun, history, entertainment and sports and appeals to every age group. Whether you decide on a weekend trip or a week's vacation, you would be surprised to see the places and options available for you to visit. It would also bring out the patriot in you. For those of you with a patriotic inclination, there is the famous Boston Massachusetts Freedom Trail. This trail includes 16 historic sites that played an important part in the making of America. Not only this trail but there are many more things to enjoy here for adults and children alike. Put on your most comfortable walking shoes, as this trail is best covered on foot and would take you to Boston's historic buildings, special places, memorials and statues. This way you would see much of Boston on foot. You can hire Park Rangers for a guided tour of the trail or explore it yourself. It is advisable to start your adventure at the National Park Visitors Center near the Old State House. Baseball fans would feel a never before felt thrill on watching the world famous Boston Red Sox slog it out in Fenway Park, the park famous in the entire baseball professional circuit. Moreover, the Boston Red Sox are back on the victory trail, breaking record after record and on a roll. The football enthusiasts will enjoy watching the fantastic New England Patriots, Super Bowl winners in 2002, 2004, and 2005. When these talented athletes take the field they are a pleasure to watch; it is an experience enjoyed by both adults and kids alike. You will have to check out their schedule to see when they will be playing at the fantastic Gillette Stadium, which is nearly 30 minutes south of the city. Your trip to Boston would be incomplete without a trip to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Here you will find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to great souvenirs of the city. Quincy Market's newest resident is the professional chef, Emeril Legasse. Don't miss his fantastic live show. In the heart of the city you would find a big green space, the Boston Common- darling of the Bostonians. This park is full of kids, their parents and tourists. You and your kids can enjoy a game of baseball, soccer and more or just while away the time. Another great green space in the city is the Public Garden. The world famous Swan Boats are located here, so bring the entire family to experience a ride on these great boats. Any fans of E.B. White will especially relish the swan boats, as they appeared in his classic book, “Trumpet of the Swan.” While you are in Boston, be sure to visit the historic Massachusetts institute of higher education, Harvard. If you kids are interested in becoming an Ivy League whiz kid, bring them to the beautiful and historic grounds of Harvard. Visit the book shops on Harvard Square and outfit the entire family in Ivy League wear!
