Five Staples that Make for Fabulous Scrapbook Layouts!

By: Laura Funk

We know that everyone has their own little obsessions when it comes to scrapbooking. That's what keeps things so interesting. And the best pages happen when you keep it simple, stick to what you like and instinctively create! So when we list our Five "Must Have" items for scrapping we know they won't be the universal ingredients for a great page for every scapper. But we know just as positively that every scrapper has their own list of Five (or more) must haves and we think it would be great to share. We'll start! Here's ours!

Five Must Haves...According to the Glitz Girls are:

1. Journaling Cards so even when you're as journaling spazzy as we are you've got all the space you need in a package that is absolutely painless to use! We like to write on the journaling cards by hand, type/print, use them as backgrounds or mats or interesting layers within the layout, throw on embellishments and basically make them work for us in any way we can think of...and we've thought of a lot so far! The journaling cards remind us that scrapbooks are filled with memories that we want to remember and they offer us the perfect opportunity to jot down enough to remind us of it always. Because no matter how much we want to remember it all...our brain just can't hold onto EVERYTHING forever!

2. Frosting (aka Bling). What girl doesn't LOVE a little bit of sparkly? And putting what you love on your pages just makes them all the more YOU! Use them as accents, bullets for journaling, polka dots, frames...we could go on and on. You get the point!

3. Paper. There is nothing more FUN than buying a TON of new paper. Having an obscene paper stash only leads to more possibilities when you're getting down and dirty on a new project. We love the Bazzill cardstock (their new bling cardstock is really fun to use).

4. Distress ink is absolutely addictive! Brown and black are fabulous but so are turquoise, pink, red, gold, green, yellow, pink...you get where I'm going with this. Distressing can add such a fun finished look to so many different projects you'll find yourself focusing on it to a ridiculous extent. But don't worry...you're not alone. We find it even more addictive when we start inking the edges of cards and pieces of layouts with the Glitz Graph Roller Doodle. It takes inking to the next level!

5. Heavy Duty Corner Rounder. This may not seem like the most basic of staples, but you're only saying that if you don't have one. A good corner rounder will stay smack dab in the middle of your work area because you'll be using it constantly!

Now that you've been tipped off to our five staples for fabulous and fun scrapbook pages we'd love to hear all about your's! Visit our blog at www.glitzitnow.blogspot.com and post a comment listing your 5 staples. We want to see if there's anything that we need to run out and get to make things more fun, glitzier, or (let's admit it) easier! So spill your guts!
