Engineered To Last - Model Railroading Clubs

By: Bill Murphy

Most hobbies have clubs or groups where people sharing an interest in the activity can get together. Humans naturally like to share skills and knowledge to gain further insight into our interests. Everyone involved in these clubs can benefit from the new ideas and skills they learn. No more reinventing the wheel for every model railroader!

Model railroading is no different in this aspect. With hundred or possibly even thousands of clubs across the world model railroading is far from an obscure or fringe group of hobbyists.

For instance, clubs such as the LCCA (the Lionel international club) - formed in 1970 - provide their members with resources and forums to discuss and share their love of this wonderful hobby that might otherwise be difficult to achieve.

You can also find many different types of model railroading clubs - far more choices than just the number of scales. For example, a link at Railserve.com lists more than 150 different clubs from all over the world, each with their own focus and speciality.

No matter what the focus, however, they all have something in common - a love of model railroading and a desire to improve the hobby for everyone involved. You'll see plenty of benefit from joining a club if you're interested in learning more about model trains.

Rome after all was not built in a day, nor by one engineer!

No matter what your interest - prototyping real-world scenes, collecting antique train equipment or just a general interest in all aspects of the hobby, you'll be able to find a club that focuses on the same thing.

Take a few minutes and connect with them " youll be glad you did. While theres nothing wrong with being on your own, why not share what you love with others that do?
