Brazil: The Land Of Rainforests & Tropical Beauty

By: Jose Balagnio

Brazil is an attractive land with its unique natural resources and wonderful people. The aspects Brazil is most famous for are its forests of the Amazon, the amazing carnival and artistic football. It appears that mother nature is at its best in Brazil and has taken a long time to create it lovingly. The hospitality of the people will enthrall you. Being an urban country, Brazil too has problem to tackle, but it is a place with charm which you shall never forget in your life.

Brazil is populated by approximately 175 million people, most of which speak Portuguese. This number often surprises tourists who assume that the majority of Brazil consists of remote rainforests. While much of the Brazilian rainforest is still untouched and remote, unfortunately much of it is being clear-cut. It's a sad fact, but much of the rain forest and its natural beauty disappear each day.

There has been a lot of bad press surrounding Brazil lately. Stories broadcast worldwide have emphasized the extreme poverty in some areas. Certainly there are places you should avoid, but they are mainly sections of the larger cities like Rio de Janeiro. Do some research before your trip so you'll know where it's safe to travel and which areas to avoid. As long as you know the prevailing social conditions, you should be safe.

Brazil is famous for the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean where water sports are the main attraction. Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro is the most well known beach in Brazil. The beach is flooded with people who wear almost nothing which does not qualify it as the best family destination, but you will have fun watching people all the same.

Rio de Janeiro is a fascinating and beautiful city that is worth a visit. The skyline is dotted with islands and mountains, making Rio simply stunning. The sugar loaf mountain and statue of Christ the Redeemer are must sees while visiting. Rio's people are full of energy and enjoy partying until the wee hours of the morning. If you are lucky enough to visit during Carnaval, you'll also be lucky if you get more than a few hours of sleep.

A trip to the Amazon forests will certainly be memorable. You can see a lot of different species of birds and plants, which you had never seen before. You will also get a chance to see many abandoned villages which were once inhabited by the Indian tribes along the river. They have now moved still deeper into the Amazon.

If you want more fun, then visit Jericoacoara. Jericoacoara is slowly attracting tourists who are mostly back packers. This fishing village offers one of the best wind surfing opportunities. If you wanted to get yourself relieved of the hectic life of the city, then this place offers a calm and graceful environment for you to relax.

If you are flying into Brazil, Rio de Janeiro has the largest and most popular airport. However, you can certainly fly into the other major centers of Brazil depending on where you are flying from. If you intend to head to several different areas of Brazil you'll probably need to take flights within the country as it's quite large. Flights are rather expensive so try and organize your trip to reduce time spent in the air. Bus tours are another good choice and let you see much of the surrounding areas as well.

Brazil is a fantastic country with one of the finest people in the world. Though it does have its share of problems, it is one of the favorite destinations of many travelers and vacationers due to its mild temperatures and the fun loving quality of the Brazilians.
