Blood Pressure Should Be Kept Under Control

Recently, a study was carried out to determine how much difference this treatment makes in lowering blood pressure in elderly patients. The results of this study were successful enough that the study was stopped early so that all patients could receive the actual treatment rather than the placebo.

The mean blood pressure of the people in the study was 173/91 and they were from 195 different hospitals in 13 different countries. In total, 3,845 people participated in the study.

There was a spectacular drop in the rate of mortality during this four year study, the cause of this was determined to be a drop in the mean blood pressure. This drop was from 173/91 to the low 150/61. At the same time, the gross mortality rate fell by around 21%, there were 30% less fatal-strokes and 23% less deaths from heart disease. However, the biggest mortality drop was the reduction of death from total heart failure by 64%.

This study manifests about the basic elements that the life can be extended by keeping your blood pressure under healthy limit. It is enough obvious that the maintaining your blood pressure under limit should be a fore most priority of health.

There are a number of ways which can be followed to maintain a healthy blood pressure. There are some methods which are recognized, and help to keep your blood pressure under the limit, which is healthy. These are given below:

* Regular exercise and increasing physical activity in general. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator or taking more walks when possible. Joining a gym and working with a trainer can be beneficial as well. Just making small changes in your daily routine to incorporate more physical activity will bring about benefits. You will be surprised at the differences you begin to feel with these small changes.

* Prohibition of smoking. If you smoke, stop immediately. You will die early with the inhalation of tobacco smoke. The tobacco smoke is toxic and will kill you by causing respiratory problem. Your blood pressure will portray your habits of smoking.

* Avoid processed 'junk' foods. These processed foods are filled with chemicals and preservatives that your body was never meant to consume. It all adds up quickly and can cause serious health problems after a period of time. Instead, change your focus to healthier alternatives such a fresh fruits and vegetables. You will soon begin to feel much better and wonder why you ever ate so much junk food.

These three steps are merely the start. Your body is an equilibrated unit and should be maintained under equilibrium. If you make your health a priority you will survive longer than those who don't care about health.
