Arthritis-Steal Life's Mobility No More

By: Tammy Foster

A thief steals your possessions just as arthritis steals your joint mobility. Generally referring to inflammation throughout the body's joints, the word arthritis refers to a compilation of over 100 different types of arthritis and not just one single condition.

Known as rheumatic diseases, arthritis and its cousin diseases can invade the body and destroy your health. It can rob you of your mobility and your ability to enjoy basic daily activities.

Arthritis causes the joints and surrounding structures, such as tendons and muscles to become horribly inflamed which leads to pain. Your body's natural reaction to an injury or illness is to respond with inflammation. With this protective response, your body can respond with pain, swelling and redness in the joints.

The varying kinds of arthritis develop from a wide variety of root causes; however, as a general rule, arthritis attacks the joints, the muscles as well as the connective tissues of the body. One of the biggest challenges of arthritis is that it has periods of exacerbation along with periods of remission. While the periods of remissions are days you long for, the periods of exacerbation remind you ever so quickly that you really are not in control of this disease.

Ok, arthritis will definitely require more of your attention and more of your attention to the critical daily management decisions surrounding your healthy life style; however, just because you have been diagnosed with arthritis does not mean that you have to head to the side lines.

Don't settle for less than the best life that you can live even if you have been diagnosed with arthritis. Many diagnosed enjoy a full and active life after making some adjustments and adaptations to life.

There are many resources available such as the Arthritis Foundation, who can provide you with superior resource materials that can help you to learn to more effectively manage your life.

Researchers continue to dig for the underlying cause of arthritis and yet while that search continues, there are many more arthritis treatments available on today's market than were available even a decade ago. Even though there is currently no known cure for arthritis, the good news is that today's treatment options can make a significant difference.

Yes, arthritis can certainly invade your life moving in like a thief and seemingly taking over. But there is hope with today's treatment advances. You can work toward reclaiming your life even in the face of arthritis, if you believe in aggressively managing your life and symptoms.

If you make a clear decision to actively manage your arthritis, then you have the best shot at keeping your arthritis under control.
