Using wood has its disadvantage in a sense that it is less pliant. It is what you bought and there is little that you can do to change it so that it fulfills your need. The plus point of wood is that there is not much debris to anticipate so it does not pose much of a threat to the whole outlook of your garden.
During this initial stage you could opt for patio umbrellas for protection from the hot sun; once the greeneries are nurtured and blossomed into a full grown protective foliage after which you could just sit in its shade, the former, which could look somewhat out-of-place, could be rid off. The garden should ideally be a place you can enjoy throughout the year. A heater can ensure that you are able to utilize the garden as many days in a year as possible. However, a heater should not be something that changes the temperature for your garden and manipulate the plants. Nothing about the garden will be natural of that happens.
If you do plan to use outdoor heater, make sure that you include them during the planning stage so that it would not spoil the whole outlook or create any problems later.
A beautiful garden will never be fully complete. There will always be something else you want to do or try out for your garden. You will watch it grow, nurture it and take pride in doing so. It is like raising a child only minus the tantrums!
